backcombing is important. if you dont backcomb enough, itll make the dreads unravel easier. and the amount of twisting is important also. i twist mine alot to make sure they will stay durable.
also, the fiber makes a difference. i use kk [kanekalon]. the jumbo braid stuff. not silky, not "synthetic fiber" which can look exactly like kk, but it seals differently.
